Skin Needling - The most asked questions...

What is skin needling?

Skin needling is a non-invasive cosmetic treatment that improves the appearance of a range of skin concerns by boosting the body's natural collagen production.

It is used to treat everything from acne scars and sunspots to enlarged pores and visible signs of ageing. There is also minimal downtime, so you don't need to hide away for a week post-procedure.

What is skin needling good for?

Skin needling encourages the body to produce more collagen and elastin to help you achieve a smoother, even-toned, and healthier look.

Skin needling benefits the following skin concerns:

- Acne scarring
- Fine lines
- Wrinkles
- Enlarged pores
- Sunspots
- Stretch marks
- Pigmentation

Skin needling doesn't remove the outer layer of skin, making it a suitable cosmetic treatment for people with thin, sensitive and darker skin tones.

How does skin needling work?

Skin needling uses tiny fine needles to prick the user layer of the skin. This stimulates the body to produce collagen to heal the micro-wounds caused by the needles.

When the new collagen is produced, the skin becomes smoother and appears more youthful. While you might find the idea of using needles a little scary, the procedure is very safe, painless and requires minimal downtime.

Does skin needling hurt?

A numbing cream is applied before the treatment so that you won't feel any pain during the procedure.

You may experience some redness and discomfort in the hours after the procedure. This can feel similar to the effect of mild sunburn. Any redness or swelling should subside within couple of days as the skin heals and is revitalised.

During this stage it is very important to protect your skin from sun exposure and any irritants that could increase discomfort.

How often should you get skin needling?

The number of treatments you need to achieve you desired look depends on your skins condition. Every person is different, you clinician will advise you on the recommended treatment plan during your consultation.

In general, moderate acne scarring can require 3 to 4 treatments and more noticeable scarring and stretch marks may require 5 to 6 treatments to achieve the desired results.

Skin needling for wrinkle, fine line and visible signs of ageing can be improved with a series of 3 to 6 treatments.
